GHS

The time is here.  We are excited to announce that we will begin in-person instruction at Galesburg High School on Monday, September 20, 2021.

First Day Schedule: As mentioned in a previous email, this year we would like to have a 9th/10th grade(s) orientation on the first day of in-person instruction.  While these students have never truly “walked the halls” at Galesburg High School, we also recognize that the pandemic and construction have forced many of our 11th and 12th-grade students to lose opportunities as well.  Therefore, we would like all students to experience Galesburg High School for the first day of in-person instruction.  Your 11th and/or 12th grade student will attend school as normal until the noon hour, then these students will be dismissed for the remainder of the day.  The 9th and 10th-grade students will stay for an in-person orientation.  Please see the attached schedule for details.

Attention GAVC and CSC Dual Credit Students:  GAVC and CSC Dual Credit will be running the normal time schedule.  This is due to the requirements of seat time required by many of the courses.  Students, when your class is about to begin, please excuse yourself in order to attend.  When your class is complete, you will receive a pass to join your class in progress at GHS.  Students in Block 3 & 4 GAVC classes are expected to attend class as normal.

Student Success & Support Program Students:  Your classes are located at Gale School, Pod B, Rooms 1-6.

GHS Traffic Flow: If you have noticed, many changes have been made to our circle drives as well as to our parking lots.  We have included an instructional video for you to watch to prepare you for your first day of travel.  Please take a moment to visit Galesburg High School to familiarize your family with the traffic flow procedures.  GHS Traffic Flow Video

Schedules: We encourage students to print their schedules before they come to school.  In the event a student forgets their schedule at home, schedules will be available for pickup in the GHS Commons, by student last name.

Guides: We realize that this will be a very anxious time for many students.  We will have an “All Hands on Deck” approach to helping students locate their classrooms.  Members of the GHS Student Council will also assist in this process.  Have a question?  Just ask someone for help.

Breakfast: Every day, GHS students will be provided the option of receiving a Grab-n-Go breakfast from the GHS Servery.  This is available daily 7:20 a.m. – 7:40 a.m.

Backpacks: At this time, the lockers inside the high school are unfinished.  Students will be allowed to carry a backpack with them to each class.  Students are to only transport school-appropriate items in their backpacks.
